Joe Leslie D’Angelo

Joe Leslie D’Angelo is an American singer and songwriter. Born in Plainfield, NJ and raised in nearby Piscataway, he currently resides in Dallas, TX. For years he was a popular “go-to” drummer and vocalist on the Jersey Shore, New York City and Philadelphia music scenes, and one of the few exceptional “singing-drummers” in that area. After moving to Texas in late 2015, he quickly found his way into the DFW (Dallas-Ft. Worth) Country and Blues music communities and soon established himself as a versatile drummer capable of singing lead vocals as well as intricate harmonies. He has performed with members of Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Ween, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Kingfish, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Johnny Thunders, The E-Street Band, The Asbury Jukes, Disciples Of Soul, Black Oak Arkansas, Band Of Joy, Asleep At The Wheel, and many others.

His debut album “Tigers, Ghosts & Love Songs” released on December 1st, 2020, has a wide-open and earthy feel to many of the songs, allowing his soulful and storytelling voice to stand out. He is the sole writer of all the compositions on that album. All his songs are written, composed, arranged and performed on the piano which he plays live and in the recording studio. He also has a keen regard for space and timing in his music, avoiding over-production and unnecessary clutter of instruments and effects.
In the Winter of 2022, Joe released two singles “Luvvin’ Me Up In Texas” and “Morpheus Leaving”. On September 12th 2022, he also released a five-song EP titled “Jive-Asses & Gin Whores”, featuring performances from stellar guitarists Mark Lettieri of Snarky Puppy and Matt O’Ree of Bon Jovi.

Joe has recently started to collaborate with other talented artists in his songwriting. This was an important step for Joe, who has always been the sole writer and composer of his songs.
The first of these partnerings includes popular Jersey Shore singer and songwriter Jo Wymer, who has had her songs placed on major media networks such as HBO, NETFLIX, FOX NASCAR, and THE CW for various television shows, series and specials.
Additionally, Joe has also started to compose with Texas songwriting legend Guthrie Kennard who has performed, toured and written with Ray Wylie Hubbard, Black Oak Arkansas, Smokin’ Joe Kubek, and Marc Benno. This unlikely, yet charming duo (Guthrie being from Texas and Joe from Jersey) has already produced two completed songs which will soon be released on Joe’s upcoming EPs and albums.
Joe has recently been granted membership as an artist with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).
